So what is the best way to keep your machine in tip-top shape?
1. Unplug your PC if you are not using it. Be aware of the fact that even if your computer is turned off, a hacker may have access to your information if your network card has WoL (Work on LAN).
2. Password protect your computer;
Use password that are not easy detectable and regularly change your password (at least once in 6 months)

Hi Sir Eduard! According to your blog, we must avoid downloading a files from sites which I don't trust or don't know but how am I going to know if a Web site is impregnable? Thank you in advance.
ReplyDeleteThe best recommendation I can offer is to browse smart. That means you ought to always double-check the URL of your banking site, social networking site, and e-mail site before you log in. Most browsers, including Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer, now include a color-change on the left side of the location bar to indicate that the site has been verified as legitimate. It's always a good idea to type in the URL by hand, and to never follow links from an e-mail. Also, checking for HTTPS instead of the less-secure HTTP is a good idea, although HTTPS isn't foolproof.
DeleteGreetings Mr. Edward! Is it really essential to update my PC's software? Cause I hate changes.
ReplyDeletePermisstion to answer tho. It depends on the user if they feel the need to upgrade their softwares. But consider the fact that latest versions are faster, better, more secured and more versatile :)
DeleteTherefore, it is extremely important to stay current, in order to ensure that software integrations do not become a headache for you as you upgrade other IT assets.

Fast Scan is recommended for inputting different devices in your computer to locate if there's any transfer of virus and it is good for weekly monitoring. Full Scan is recommended for hidden viruses in your disks that may harm your operating system and it is good for monthly monitoring.

DeleteSir Ed, Why do I need to use variety of password instead of one?
ReplyDeletebecause once the hacker/user starts trying your “favorite password” on multiple sites they are now into more areas of your life such as your email, banking, social media and other accounts.
DeleteAnw, Here’s a story of a journalist who had his iCloud password hacked and the damage they were able to do with just that one password!
