What is Keyboarding?
- the ability to enter text by using the correct fingers without looking at the keys (aka-touch typing).
- having adequate keyboarding skills will enable you to use the computer more effectively and be more productive.
- Sit up straight
- Arms near side and wrist straight
- Each finger rests on a particular key in the home row of the keyboard when not typing, in order to keep "grounded" and oriented at all times. The home keys (ASDF JKL; ) are outlined in yellow on the above diagram. The thumbs remain in the air, or very gently in contact with the keys below.
- Each finger is responsible for a vertical column of keys, which you can think of as a "home column". The column is not straight up and down, but rather slopes up to the left.
- Both index fingers are responsible for an additional column, the one next to their home columns towards the middle of the keyboard.
- The thumbs are used for the space bar, and depending on the shape of your keyboard can also be used for the "command" (Apple computers) or "Windows" (PCs) key.
- The left-hand pinky is also responsible for all the keys to the left of its home column, including the left shift key, caps lock, tab, tilde, escape and others.
- The right-hand pinky is a real workhorse, covering everything to the right of its home column.

In typing a document, what should be the viewing distance of my eyes to monitor, and what should be the angle of my body to avoid eye problem and backpain?
ReplyDeleteThe distance of the monitor from your eyes should be 16 to 30 inches and your body should be 90° angle. To avoid eye problem tilt the top of the monitor away from you at a 10- to 20-degree angle. This will enable you to create an optimum viewing angle. :)
DeleteSir based on your experience what should we do to enhance more our typing skill?
ReplyDeletePractice. Get used to the home keys work to the point where you do not need to look at both what you are typing, or your fingers on the keyboard. Practice makes perfect!
Deleteyes practice always ate ! FC i understand these basic skill by pressing the homerow keys :D
DeleteWhat is the average typing speed?
ReplyDeleteGenerally, a typing speed of 40 WPM (Words Per Minute) is considered an average typing speed. :)
DeleteSir, sino po nag set ng mga letters sa keyboard or nag design ng keyboard?
ReplyDeleteHis name is Christopher Latham Sholes , an American inventor who invented the QWERTY keyboard and considered as Father of typewriter 😁
Deletethank you sir for the info :D
Deletewelcome! :)
Deletesir, bakit hindi po naka alphabetical order ang mga letters sa keyboard?
ReplyDeleteThe reason dates back to the time of manual typewriters. When first invented , they had keys arranged in an alphabetical order, but people typed so fast that the mechanical character arms got tangled up. So the keys were randomly positioned to actually slow down typing and prevent key jams. The QWERTY keyboards were made so one could type using keys from the top row of the keyboard. This random arrangement became standard.
DeleteIt's funny to think that "people typed so fast.. back to the time" because of an alphabetical arranged keyboard and now there are many who takes a hard time to practice the proper keyboarding :D Sir, now that mechanical issues aren't that alarming because of advanced technology, would you like to try again the alphabetical arranged keyboard?
DeleteAs for me, no. People are so used to QWERTY keyboards and pads and I think it would be so hard to change it.
DeleteHi matthew! since i'm more familiar with the QWERTY keyboard my answer is NO :)
DeleteSir, do i need to apply proper keyboarding when playing games?
ReplyDeleteIdeally, YES you should, to avoid over fatigue of your finger joints especially if you play for a lengthy period of time. Proper keyboard techniques were designed to have a more convenient and efficient experience of using your computer.
DeleteSir, Which is more important: Speed or Accuracy? Which should I concentrate on?
ReplyDelete11-B
Accuracy.
DeleteIf you type 10% faster than average but make 15% more mistakes because of lack of accuracy, your speed is useless.
Learn to be accurate first then improve speed. :)
How much time each day should we spend on keyboard instruction?
ReplyDelete11-B
I suggest 15-30minutes/day :)
DeleteIs there a application in computer that can help us practicing from proper techniques, and what are the sites so that I can download it on my pc? is it free?

I always try my best to do the proper keyboarding but I don't know why my fingers can't bear on it it feels like my hands is freezing. what are the tips should i do??
ReplyDeleteI suggest Stretching,
DeleteWhen your wrists get stiff from typing, grab your fingers with one hand and stretch out your arm to full length and pull on your fingers back slowly then, stretch your fingers by opening and closing them, bend your hands back and forth, and rotate your wrists. if you feel a little sore on the fingers or knuckles, just put your arms up high, and wriggle your fingers (only do this if your fingers feel sore. ) and if your knuckles hurt just put your left hand into a fist and do the same with the right. With the bottom of your left fist, tap the knuckles on your right hand and vice versa. :)
Sir, what is the technique behind good typing ability?
ReplyDelete11-B

ReplyDeleteWelcome Gracile! Patience lang PATIENCE :D
DeleteSir , is there any other reason why students cannot or do follow the proper keyboarding and just type on keyboard using their own way of typing aside from they are not skillful in it.
ReplyDeleteI think the reason why students cannot or do follow the proper keyboarding and just type on keyboard using their own way of typing is because they always do improper keyboarding and become their habit and they feel uncomfortable with the proper keyboarding techniques. :)
DeleteSir example i have a shop/computershop . can i reccomend to the costumers these proper techniques ?
ReplyDeleteWhy not? you can recommend to your customers the proper keyboarding techniques and tell them about the negative effects of not following the proper keyboarding techniques but don't expect them to obey you because in the first place, they payed for the computer fee and always remember "the customer is always right". :)
DeleteSir, am I really required to do this techniques? But thanks for the information anyway.

Sir, we all know that we are all varies in hand sizes, just like me. They said it helps me to type faster because of my big hands but actually it is hard for me to type because i push random buttons unintentionally, so sir do you have any tips or recommended techniques or keyboard types for me to type in a proper way with no hesitation?
ReplyDeleteFirst memorize the home row keys next the alphanumeric keys and after that don't look at the keys when you type. Just slide your fingers around until they find the home row marking.
DeleteLimit your hand and finger movement only to what is necessary to press a specific key. Keep your hands and fingers close to the base position. This improves typing speed and reduces stress on the hands! :)
Sir, about the pinky finger on the right hand. Is it the only one or the allowed one to press all of the keys on the right side of the keyboard?
ReplyDeleteThe Right pinky are responsible for the most keys on the keyboard.
DeleteThe following are the keys to be pressed by right pinky finger.

Delete"Well, proper keyboarding will take some time to be learned and to be mastered. But what's good about this is it help us to be more professional in using the keyboard and at the same time, this will avoid us in such things that will harm us as an individual. As far as proper keyboarding is concerned, always be patience in things we're doing. It may take some time and hardships for us to perfect it, but in the end it is us who will be benefited of it. Have patience, have faith. :)" -Archie Denece Gajardo

Deletesorry it is not acceptable :) you should break that bad typing habit immediately :)
Hello sir, does keyboarding techniques only applicable for alphanumeric keys? How about the other keys? Such as function keys and numeric keypads? Thank you
ReplyDeleteSHS - SECTION B
aside from control keys, all keys that are not included in typing keys are not necessarily assigned to a specific finger for pressing them. Instead, you can use whichever finger is easiest or most comfortable for reaching and pressing those keys but it does'nt mean that you should set aside the proper posture when using numeric, navigation, and function keys. :)
DeleteHi! Pls. specify your name for recording purposes :)
DeleteGoodeve sir! it seems that allot of questions have been asked and allot of it is already been answered and cleared. i just want to add this, since I'm just starting to learn the basics.. is it possible to work on my own practices and techniques on typing on a keyboard without following the proper way of typing.. i'm not saying that there should be no proper way but.. my point is, How about I do it my way?
